WHY BUY AMERICAN?
The selling of America at one time referred to the selling of this great nations products, services and technology. Sadly, it now means we are selling out our labor, our products and our technology to the lowest bidder. Our competition is no longer the guy or gal with a better mouse trap but nations such as Mexico, China, India and Indonesia who enslave their workers with jobs paying as low as .15 cents per hour and in some cases, forced child labor. Our history of an industrial and manufacturing giant has been mortgaged out to China and others. They hold the note on us and perhaps our future and sadly those are the facts. China makes 80% of our toys and much of our steal and clothing. NAFTA, CAFTA, and the WTO are just programs to sell the American worker out.
The American dream has been put on the auction block by our politicians and corporate America. Our "buddies" on capital hill with their lobbyist pals have created what they love to call FREE TRADE with the many 3rd world countries. Friends, at .15 cents an hour in some of these areas it is the closest thing to “Free trade” there is. However, there is good news.
We can stand up and fight back
We can vote those corrupt folks in office OUT. We can hold corporate America accountable to civilized and fair trade standards. Finally, we can buy as many American made products as we can thereby putting fellow Americans to work. I'd like to say we can begin with buying nothing but American made auto's however, the sad truth is much of the parts are made and assembled overseas or in Mexico then shipped back here.
So, how do we begin our journey back to the manufacturing and industrial powerhouse we were once were? Well, since we can't begin that journey in an American made car since there is no such thing, lets begin it in an American made pair of shoes and socks. You can even put on your favorite pair of "Fruit of the Looms" ...oh, wait, they closed all their Kentucky plants, put over 10,000 Americans out of work and moved their manufacturing to Mexico, El Salvador and China.
Well, you can at least buy an American pair of jeans right? You sure can. Cause Jeans partner Schaefer Outfitter is one of the few remaining real American jean making company’s left. It's a jean that can be worn anywhere and do anything in. Heck, ride a horse if you want...with any luck it'll be a horse made in America. Unless China is shipping those in as well.
